Earn $25 on your American Express account on Small Business Saturday

I received a couple timely emails today. One, my regular subscription to Disc Exchange and second, an email from Frugally Farming Family. Both were reminders of how important it is to support local businesses!

Tomorrow is the first-ever Small Business Saturday (by American Express), when you are urged to spend your dollars of support not at nationally owned chains or corporations, but at "the shops and restaurants that employ our neighbors and reinvest our money close to home. The businesses that are the heartbeat of our communities and local economies," --from their Website.

Disc Exchange, Knoxville's local music store is participating. If you make a $25 or more purchase with your registered American Express card at Disc Exchange on Saturday, November 27, 2010, you will earn you a $25 credit on your Amex statement. That sounds like quite a deal. You MUST register at Small Business Saturday to participate.

Since I don't have an Amex card, I'd be very interested to know how this works out for anyone who participates, so please leave a comment if you have any details.

The second email I read was one of concern for a local business that is struggling financially, Cedar Springs Christian Store. If you are interested in supporting their store, Frugally Farming Family has a post about their holiday deals and how to score a coupon before you go.

They've actually extended this promotion through the end of the year! My husband has registered his AmEx and we're going to try it out at Little River Trading Company in Maryville. Hopefully it will be a smooth promo! I'll let you know if we do end up getting the statement credit!
